Hog raising at Union MZ Company is one of its important business activities. It is organized on three locations, on Pig Farm in Trnovče , near to town Velika Plana ( quality breeding material production and fattening pig production ) on Pig Farm in Petrovac on Mlava (fattening pig production ) and on Pig Farm in Mustapić ( quality breeding material production and fattening pig production ).
Union MZ on its farms has 2600 sows, 700-800 pregnant gilts, 50 breeding boars, and majority of boars are in reproduction center in Trnovce.
Basic race on pig farms in Trnovce and Petrovac iz Landrace, and on pig farm in Mustapic is Great Yorkshire.
Purebred makes 20-30% from total number of breeding stock and purebred is using for breeding boar production ( boar's mothers ) purebred breeding gilts and breeding gilts F1 generation.
The other 70-80% are sows and F1 sows ( Great Yorkshire x Landrace on Pig Farms in Trnovce and Petrovac, and Landrace x Great Yorkshire on Pig Farm in Mustapic).
We produce and sell breeding boars of Great Yorkshire, Landrace, Pietren, Duroc and Hampshire race after performans test is finished.

We also produce and sell breeding gilts F1 generation (Great Yorkshire x Landrace and vice versa ), pregnant 2 months and up.

At fattening pig production ( after stabilization of sow number in 2006 ) we have constant growth from year to year. For example 52000 fattening pigs were produced with average weight of 101 kg in 2007, 54500 fattening pigs were produced with average weight of 103 kg in 2008. Fattening pigs are mixed blood of three and four race ( Pietren x F1, Duroc x F1, Pietren-Duroc x F1, Pietren-Hampshire x F1 ).
Meat percentage of our fattening pigs in last 2 years is 59% +- 0,2 % and with this data we are very satisfied. Meat quality at slaughter line is exceptionally good and our many buyers are satisfied with that quality.
Crown of the entire Union MZ work in hog raising was confirmed at 3 last International Agriculture Fairs in Novi Sad, where we in 2007 took second place at whole standing with Landrace race boar that was champion and purebred Great Yorkshire gilts collection were champions too, in 2008 we were apsolute champions in hog raising and that result we have repeated this 2009 year.
